Super Top Up Policies are improved version of Top Up Health Policies. In Top-Up Health Insurance, there are some cappings like threshold/deductible limit is applicable for each and every health claims due to this a person faces difficulties to get the benefit of Top-up Policy. Also, a person can not claim again for the same disease. In Super Top Up Health policies, there is no restriction like Top Up Policy. A person can get claim in this policy once he crosses/pays amount equal to or more than threshold limit, whether it is from his own pocket or through base mediclaim policy. Also, this policy counts cumulative claims in a year to get the threshold limit. Once a person made claims up to threshold limit during the policy period, thereafter he is eligible to get benefits from Super Top Up Policy.
Example
A has a base mediclaim policy of Rs. 5 Lac and A Super Top Up Policy of Rs.10 lac with threshold/deductible limit Rs. 3 Lac. A has made a claim of Rs. 3 Lac during the policy period and thereafter again hospitalized and the expenses are Rs. 2 Lac. Now, he has 2 options, first he can get the claim from his base policy, 2nd he can get claim from his Super Top Up Policy as he has already borne amount Rs.3 Lac that is equal to threshold/deductible limit. If he claims in base policy then he has remaining Sum Insured Rs.10 Lac still to further claim in Super Top Up Policy or if he claims in Super Top Up Policy, then he has still remaining Sum Insured Rs. 10 Lac ( 2 Lac Base Policy + 8 Lac Super Top Up Policy).
